Some WordPress plugins are high quality and well maintained, others are not. This presents potential security threats to the WordPress system. For this reason, Oxford Information Labs categorise plugins as Supported and Unsupported plugins.
OXIL have a number of plugins, some of which have been developed by Oxford Information Labs, and others by third parties, which are supported within our corporate hosting packages. All updates, patches, and development of those plugins, or other parts of the system that may be required to maintain core functionality are carried out at no additional cost.
Oxford Information Labs can install third party plugins on request (please note conditions below). All such plugins are categorised as unsupported, and therefore all installations, updates, patches, and development of those plugins, or other parts of the system that may be required to maintain core functionality are carried out at additional cost. We are happy to use up any ‘support minutes’ you may have in your hosting package to perform such work. Usually, 15 minutes per month is enough to support a high quality plugin, provided there is no requirement to amend the core system, or theme to do so. You can also disable any plugins that do not behave as expected.
Plugins in general
For security reasons, Oxford Information Labs performs all the plugin installations, updated and patches on all business hosted systems. Insecure FTP transfers are disabled by design.
We will never install a poorly maintained plugin.
