If your business software is developed and hosted by OXIL, then your system will work.
BBC Future Media describes OXIL as “a fantastic supplier to engage on IT commissions”. We like our contracts to become proper relationships. Reliability builds trust.
OXIL uses object-oriented programming and test-driven development to deliver software on time and in budget. Engineering and support, graphic design, hosting and network infrastructure are fine-tuned to your specifications.
Engineering and support
The aim is to concentrate your resources on your business system or workflow. You don’t always want to go back right to the start: if it works, make it work better. Reduce development costs. Improve stability.
We have a large stock of pre-written software components (libraries). These pre-tested building blocks are already working hard in other mission-critical systems. We typically use these components as the basis for your software development project and then offer you continued rights on a Perpetual Royalty Free basis.
We’re fans of WordPress for content management and Google Apps web services for calendars, email and contact sharing. We like Xero for online finances and accounts management. We’ll use Google, Xero, and other public APIs (such as Facebook) to link your software with other applications and to centralise your workflow.
OXIL offers competitive pricing and discounts on enterprise support and rolling development contracts. We’re happy to negotiate Royalty Free Licensing terms for you, so that you can use our software without necessarily purchasing our support: a great “no software lock-in” deal. Read about our packages here or get in touch.
Design and hosting
Your system’s look has to be beautiful and clear. We sculpt themes, fonts, metaphors, colours and animation to present your brand in the best light. And a new system needs reliable hosting: we have our own ultra-secure rack-servers, plus other servers for remote back-up, and a range of business continuity monitoring services.
If you’re building an Intranet, OXIL can supply or source hardware and provide ongoing management. We can recommend a number of low-cost server options and Open-Source software solutions.
Here’s a snapshot of what we do, and the people we work with.
The BBC: Voicing for the Accessibility Toolkit
In 2010, OXIL won the tender to build a prototype for Text-to-Speech services for future BBC assistive technology services. The system utilises state-of-the-art technology and multimedia streaming.
The Royal College of Nursing
In 2001, the Royal College of Nursing chose OXIL as tendering partners to bid for an online auditing service funded by the Healthcare Commission. The system provided the RCN with data collection and reporting tools for ten years.
The Dragon School, Oxford
The Dragon School is one of the pre-eminent Preparatory Schools in the country, rated as “outstanding” by Ofsted. It uses a sophisticated intranet system, co-developed by OXIL and the school, to manage its operations.
