Domain Name Disputes (DRS and UDRP)

The Oxford Information Labs team has experience in domain name dispute resolution going back nearly two decades. CEO Emily Taylor was brought in to Nominet on secondment from private practice in 1999 to write decisions under its original Dispute Resolution Service, and successfully persuaded Nominet’s board and stakeholders to undertake a comprehensive review of the service. The revised Dispute Resolution Service was launched in 2001, and was managed by Emily Taylor in her position as Director of Legal and Policy at Nominet, through a bespoke workflow system designed and implemented by the technical team at Oxford Information Labs. The quality of the DRS was subsequently recognised in awards by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and LegalWeek.

Since leaving Nominet Emily has advised clients – both complainants and respondents – on domain name disputes under the DRS, and the ICANN Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Process (UDRP).
